Home Team Report:
With potentially a big swing towards 2nd place in favour of the team that comes out on top between us and Staines tonight there was a lot riding on every frame! So much so that Mark felt the need to create a wind up group message trying to get us believing that Sean, “our GOAT” couldn’t play and therefore had to cancel and “it’s only what you would do in our position if Ryan couldn’t play” apparently - it all became quite serious! So with the mind games in place, suddenly Sean of course was available and the game was back on. I was all up for playing Sean and so we all figured i’d go first even tho we predicted they’d try throwing us by putting him on first (only time this season) but then after Sean, when all the other 4 turned up things for me at least did get uncomfortable. So with that feeling ever present, as good as Sean was i was equally bad to the point i felt embarrassed.

For whatever reason i struggled anyway they got off to the perfect start and when James got a long red but missed a tricky pink opening the game up - Danny picked off what he needed very well to leave James needing snookers and it was 3-0. It looked like it was going to go 4-0 too when Lewis built up a 20 ish lead and looking good at the start. James hit back tho with a good 28 but Lewis had regained a lead once more by 6 on the green. This was when, from a difficult position James pulled out a worldy safety come snooker behind the black which virtually won him the frame. Lewis couldn’t find the 2 cushion after 6 attempts but found the more difficult 1 cushion just in time on the 2nd go lol! Still just enough on Lewis got the long green but missed an awkward brown which stuck the frame and in winning that James gave Andy something to play for! Having just questioned the miss being called in the previous frame, ironically Mark found himself in a position on the last red that was so difficult the ‘miss’ didn’t even come into it.. 20pts and 4 free balls later Andy still had him in the same problem when Mark pulled out thee escape of the night just hitting the only bit of red possible to hit! Unfortunately for him tho he left it up and Barefield made no mistake in getting what he needed. In the last another re-rack was on the cards with a red over the pocket and both tucking up to the pack. Tom tho, brave as it was, took the chance of trying to get the snooker behind the black which didn’t pay off as he left the red. No messing Andy went straight into the pack spreading the reds everywhere and crucially found his way onto the black. He was in no mood to squander his chance either, perfect position all the way through he didn’t look like missing until beyond frame ball. Once the frame was safe tho on 61 the pressure only mounted as he eyed up the century! Just landing in between shots from the black on the last 2 reds... it wasn’t meant to be this time but with me affectively not turning up against them the draw most certainly felt like a win : )
