Away Team Report:
It was a big game for my team as it was probably the last chance we had of making some real ground on Sunninghill B’s lead at the top. So with this in mind we decided to put me on first and i’ll have a go at Matt Ford. Unfortunately for us he went second lol so not as planned. Had a 57 break from nothing at the start of the first, with a couple of 20’s to follow it felt like i’d picked up from where i left off at the UK Interleague. I had a promising chance off a good safety early in the second but left a tricky black from near the cushion that i had to stun. Having only got 1 and getting on the key red Rich sparked into gear taking more than just the loose reds with a nice constructed 38 break! Some good safety followed and before Rich was forced into a long pot which he got with a black to go 57up 51R. I got a red black before Rich rolled in a shot to nothing long red (50up 35R). This is where i was going to concede before looking at the colours and deciding to carry on. I got a few snookers to extract the first fowl (five) and took the red black to get it back to 37down 27R. I ended up getting 11 snookers altogether but after Rich went in off the yellow i could win! 25 behind i just lost position going up and down for the blue in baulk and had to play safe. I was forced into going for a long blue soon after and missed it. Fair play to Rich as after everything that had happened and only somehow 16 in front, he got the long thin blue i left. Shows the standard of our league, felt i played a great two frames but missed one ball and ended up losing the frame!
Ganner’s started well against Matt digging in a long red to the green pocket and screwing perfectly on the black. Unfortunately it was all undone after he jumped over the black next shot. Matt was clinical as ever and after the scrappy first he ran away with the second 52 & 41 in quick succession.
Down to James to salvage the draw Ian wasn’t firing on all cylinders and James gradually picked up his game and by the end of the second was starting to play quite well. Again just goes to show the strength in depth in our league! James did so well in LHC team final but wasn’t really even considered for the UK Interleague and neither was Richard really or Nick Birney even tho they was there to support and watch most of our games.
