Admin Report: Top of the table clash which will have big influence over who wins the title.
Ian's outstanding break of 75 is the highest in league one this season.
Match report below (in home & away sections).
West byfleets win puts them 4 points ahead of woking going into the final round of matches next week.
Home Team Report: 1st frame:
Polished early break of 41 helps Andrew into a healthy lead.
Ryan- playing with John's cue- replies with a 20 but is thwarted by a double kiss near the red spot and - shortly afterwards - a kick on a pot red. Andrew leads 101-59 after half an hour play and the frame moves into a phase of double baulk rinse and repeat with the red stuck on bottom cushion
Ryan manufactures an opening but still doesn't quite hit his stride. A break of 18 ends after he narrowly misses a cannon on the red spot.
Potential key moment: Ryan fouls and his ball (white) leaves the table. But Andrew mistakenly picks that up and plays it next shot. He's yellow. Momentum shifts. Ryan is back in and makes 25 to level the game at 103 each. A stylish 35 follows almost immediately and Ryan is suddenly within 10 of a great comeback - but he rattles the red in the top corner.
At 146-111, Ryan is on the cusp of victory but let's Andrew back in. A cracking long red smashed into the yellow pocket is crucial in a break of 20 but it comes to an end when one of the middle pockets spits back a red. Ryan seizes his chance and wins after exactly an hour.
Away Team Report: 2nd frame:
Neither at their best but George ahead throughout. He eventually hit his stride and a 37 took him to within 5 of the winning line. Confidence and swagger visibly restored but clearly conscious that John still only needed 16 to secure two match points.
The tension was palpable with so much at stake. George's win took byfleet into a 5-4 match lead.
Final frame: Clive led 35-11 and had left Ian little or no clear-cut opportunities. Ian is always a dangerous opponent and needed a half chance to spark him into action. A beautifully constructed and authoritative break of 75 followed - the highest in league one this season; and what a time to make it. He really rose to the occasion. What could Clive muster now in response?
Before he had chance to answer that, Ian was off-and-running again. A run of 29 took him 75 ahead and just 35 from victory. At this stage, Ian looked odds-on the winner. Meanwhile, Clive was still 60 away from securing two vital points in the title race. He then made a 25 at just the right time.
But it Ian wasn't to be deterred and another flourish at the end gave west byfleet a thoroughly deserved win.
