Home Team Report:
What a nail biting match with all the frames being very tight affairs. In the first, Paul was always leading with both players consistently scoring, then Dan caught up to make the score 138 all which led to a nervous finish with Dan just edging out an unlucky Paul. In the second I started very well and took an early lead with Neil looking a little rusty but as has happened a lot to me recently I lost my way again towards the end and Neil potted extremely well to run out a comfortable winner, which pleased Paul. The last frame was a very good quality affair with both Marks playing some lovely billiards without a fluke in sight. When Mark L took a 102 to 78 lead I thought he would run out to win but Mark Mc made a couple of sizeable contributions to set up a great finish. Mark L needed 9 to win but unluckily broke down leaving Mark Mc to get 14, after getting 6 he went in off but unluckily potted his opponents ball and with the red in baulk looked to be in trouble but then played a deft “up and down” to leave Mark L double baulked but with the possibility of a cannon, unluckily he went in between the two balls leaving Mark Mc a pot to win which he sunk for a memorable victory. A really great frame to watch, I must congratulate Mark Mc for being the first player in a very long time to beat Mark L in a league match “a real feather in his cap”. I must also congratulate the Woking team for an enjoyable and sociable evening.
