A perfect draw and New Haw’s best all round performance of the season combined for an excellent result for us tonight. In frame 1 Lol at last found some fluency with his cueing and after quickly setting up a 20+ lead kept a determined Mark Flatt at bay and was never headed. In the 2nd match, after a decidedly shaky start which allowed Andrew to open up a 25 point gap, my 36 break, which was only curtailed by a very unfortunate fluke of my opponent’s white, put me into the lead. Despite not taking advantage of some excellent opportunities, breaking down several times with a high break there for the taking, I continued to score steadily and eventually ran out a fairly comfortable winner. In the final frame, after a nervous start, Steve cued very smoothly throughout and was very unlucky not to convert some good opportunities into significant breaks. Neal never settled (possibly too relaxed with his holiday starting tomorrow) and was unable to mount any serious challenge to Steve allowing him to complete a comfortable victory for himself and New Haw’s first 10 pointer of the season. And if the result isn’t enough confirmation of how well we played, surprisingly we were eating our food by 10.30!!
