Home Team Report:
In our final match of the season, I opened proceedings against Paul Angus and I played very fluently early on taking a forty plus lead and as has happened in previous weeks hit the proverbial brick wall on 68, Paul played well from then on and ran out a worthy winner. In the second frame Dan raced into fifty plus lead and by his own admission had some very good fortune on the way. Dan looked to be cruising to a very comfortable victory but as usually happens the good fortune turned to Nick and he started to play well and was unlucky to lose. In the final frame that “wily old fox” Jim Angus played some superb billiards including a very well crafted 47 break and did not give a below par Mark much of a look in. A very pleasant evening which I think everyone enjoyed.

I would just like to apologise to my team mates for my own performances this season which I think have generally been poor and very frustrating for me and if I had performed better we could have finished up in a very good position in the league. In my defence all I can say is that I think my play has been affected by the appendage I have to carry around following my operation last year and also maybe getting that bit older doesn`t help but I am having my reversal operation shortly and hopefully will be on better form next season so you all better watch out!!!

In conclusion I must say that this has been the most exciting and absorbing season I have ever played in the Byfleet league with many twists and turns and I think this is due to a lot of the teams being evenly matched with the final standings not being known until the last frame of the last match and long may it continue. I would also like to publicly thank Kelvin for all his sterling work on behalf of us all and for his long time dedication to our league. Thanks Kelvin!
