Away Team Report:
Despite an unexplained arson attack on the table at Woking during the week, the game went ahead even though we had to play around some singed areas. In the first match John started off like a train and soon established a very substantial lead. Dan appearing rusty at first got into his stride and began to claw back the deficit which ended up with either player needing 3 to win and after a couple of missed shots John secured the points. An exciting game. In the second Mark continued his recent rich vein of form and scored consistently with a couple of nicely compiled 27 breaks, Jim played his usual quality billiards but was not quite able to string his breaks together which allowed Mark to run out the comfortable winner. Woking SC does not seem to be a happy hunting ground for me and so it proved to be again. From the start of the game I was always on the back foot and Paul took his chances very well, scoring very steadily throughout the game, leaving me in his wake. No matter how hard I tried I could not seem to string shots together and it felt like I was leaving Paul a leave after every miss. I would like to blame the table but it was either my bad play or the billiards gods against me. You have to be accurate on that table otherwise you pay the price. Anyway I am glad that I don’t have to play anyone called Paul at Woking in the near future after my two results there this season. I would like to thank Woking for their hospitality which made for a very pleasant evening, enjoyed by all.
