Home Team Report: It is the first season back in the prem for the newly promoted Staines Cons B and with 4 players me and Tom decided to share a frame. We have had some good matches over the years with New Haw in Snooker and Billiards and not alot has come between us. Captain Steve Dale put his names down with a suspicion he was going to be playing me. Well he was right! The first match saw Danny Hocking Vs Paul Harrison, Danny got off to a good start with some good pots but often running out of position. He then worked a nice 27 break missing the black for 34. The 27 break being enough to take the first frame after a mistake from Paul going in off with just the colours remaining. 1-0 Staines. The second frame went the opposite way with Paul playing some good shots and taking an advantage of the game. With 1 red left on the table Paul put Danny in a few snooker's to take the frame and level the match at 1-1. Match 2 was Tom/Mark vs Steve Dale with Tom playing first. Steve took an early lead and looked like he was going to run out a comfortable winner but his fortunes soon changed. Tom finally started to play and came back at Steve turning it into a black ball game. Both players each had a chance but it was Steve who left Tom the pot to win the frame. 2-1 Staines. The second match was down to me. I have had alot of banter with Steve over the past few years so really wanted to get one over him on the snooker table. I must have had my A game on, cuing well i didn't really leave or give Steve many chances and taking all chances i was given. I ran out a comfortable winner and giving Staines a 3-1 lead. Match 3 was Martin Court vs Lol Humpries. In the first frame neither player really got started but it was Martin who had the slight upper hand. With only the colours to go Lol potted yellow but left Martin a chance on the green to clear up. Martin taking his chance well and potting Green, Brown, Blue and Pink but missing black. 4-1 Staines. The second frame was the same as the first neither player having the upper hand until the colours. When Lol left Martin a clearance again which Martin took well clearing all the colours with a 27 break. 5 - 1 Staines and a first win of the new season. All the games were played under good spirit and it was a good evening once again. I would like to add that the New Haw boys are a pleasure to play and we look forward to the reverse match a New Haw. Good luck for the rest of the season!!!
