Away Team Report: With both teams winning there opening game, tonights game was going to be a close one with neither team wanting to lose there 100% start. 1st on was Danny vs Peter. The beginning of the first frame was a safety battle with Peter coming out on top. Peter was playing some fantastic safety shots putting Danny in trouble to make mistakes. Peter was potting well and took a steady lead of 20 and looking comfortable to take the first frame. Danny managed to dig deep and produce a 21 to reduce the deficit to within 5 and then continued to pick of balls to take a lead into the colours. With Pink and black on the table the snooker gods favoured Danny, an attempted pot rattling in the jaws and dropping in the opposite pocket sealed the first frame to Staines. 1-0. The second frame was more open both players attacking the balls and neither player looking settled. Like the first frame Peter again took a nice lead of 20 until an error allowed Danny a chance to get back in the frame. Danny took the chance well after another fluke on pink identical to the fluke to win the first frame with Danny making 24 missing the last red in the yellow pocket. With Pink and black on the table Peter was trailing by 12. Peter's safety tonight was very good clipping the pink and snooker Danny behind the black. Danny attempt to get out of the snooker left Peter the chance to pot pink and black to take the frame by 1 point. 1-1 being the fair result. The second match saw Tom/Mark share frames again against Dan Reeves. Tom started well and looked in the zone tonight taking an early lead. The lead proving enough as he managed to keep out Dan from catching him. A few good chances taken well by Tom was enough to seal the 3rd frame and give Staines the lead again. 2-1. It was now Marks turn to keep up the 100% start to the season. Dan broke in the forth frame it was a fluke attempting a long red that let Mark straight in. Mark making 9 then running away. Both players had plenty of chances but it was Mark who took his chances well before running away when braking down from position. Mark taking the frame. 3 - 1 Staines. It was clear to see tonight that Dan had struggled to find his top game but im sure next week he will bounce back stronger. The final match was against two players who just love to play each other. Martin vs Mark. It was Mark who started off the frame brighter playing some superb pots and making a fantastic break of 32. Mark did leave Martin many of chances to come back into the frame but Martin couldn't pot a ball. Mark took the frame convincingly and the comeback was on. 3-2. After the first frame a little bit of coaching from the 3 amigos Mark, Danny and Tom spurred Martin on ready for the second frame. It must have worked, the frame was close until Mark missed a red leaving Martin a good opportunity. With the reds in a nice position Martin played some superb shots to make a fantastic 52 break missing a difficult red. This leaving Mark needing snooker's. Mark played for snooker's but Martin took his next chance and put the lead well of of reach and taking frame and match 4-2. Its a good start to the season from both teams and im sure the correct result on the night. Thank you for a great evening and for the nice food and look forward to the return leg at Staines. Good luck Oatlands for the rest of the season.
