Away Team Report: Staines sneaked another draw when really the home side should have won this encounter, Rigby came out guns blazing for the home side & was dominant in the opening frame clinical potting & a mid frame break of 28 was easily enough for one nil, the second Connors stuttered to a twenty odd point lead early more through Rigby's misfortune then any outstanding play, but it was Rigby who was the player looking for things to happen but unfortunately for him the balls went scrappy & although some cracking pots continued the table wouldn't allow anything to flow, with 3 balls remaining Connors required one of them, he played a terrible safety shot on the blue & knocked the black off the cushion & into a potable position leaving them all on, Rigby potted the blue but in doing so chinese snookered himself, with hampered cueing he attempted the pink but wobbled it & left Connors the pink to the middle which he duly accepted for..1-1..next up Rubiks & Walch, well this was quite a straight forward win for the home side player with Walch still umming & harring over which cue to play with & could not settle, Rubik's potted well & punished Walch's uncertainty throughout, Walch rallied a little towards the end of the second frame setting Rubik's in a number of challenging snookers but all in all had left far to much work to be done & the correct scoreline read 3-1...the last match was Darken & Fraser, Darken hit the front early on & the new experiment on the stance looked like it was paying dividends, it wasn't until towards the latter end of the frame Fraser stepped in with a break of 29 to reduce to deficient to 3-2, with his tail up Fraser dominated the last with two contributions a mid frame break of 35 & a late break of 26 rounded off a solid performance on his behalf, as mentioned above 3 each is recorded on the scorecard but Staines can count themselves a little fortunate.
An enjoyable evening had by one an all, cracking stories by one Mr Andy Darken who never fails to have me in stiches with his shenanigans, top bloke, top team & a pleasure to have a drink with afterwards...Report by TC
