Away Team Report: Match Report: In match one I played Neil, the first frame was a bit scrappy ending up with me 18 behind on the blue, I decided to try and double it the length of the table which turned into a treble but it went in and left a tricky pink along the rail with the black on its spot, I potted the pink but with the little bit of side I put on the white went in off in the other corner 1-0 to Neil. I thought the second frame would be much of the same but after breaking off I thought the cue ball pretty safe near the top cushion behind the baulk colours. Neil proceeded to pot a brilliant red and leave himself perfectly on the black and after taking 14 reds and colours was on a possible 139 break, he potted the final red and decided to play for the blue but unfortunately got too close to the blue and left a difficult pot into the corner with the rest, he unluckily missed it and went in off in the middle, I then potted a “superb” yellow and shook Neil`s hand. I must say congratulations to Neil for a brilliant break, well played. In match two Mark continued his recent good form and potted very solidly with a nice 25 break on the way to take the first frame. Paul played very well in the second including a neatly compiled 58 break to take the fame and finish 1-1. In the final match Dan played Mark L, frame 1 was a close affair with Dan needing a snooker on the colours and after some great attempts to get one Dan went in off the pink leaving Mark set up. Frame 2 started with Mark potting 7 reds with blacks and with Neil refereeing it looked like Mark might challenge his earlier effort but he took on a difficult red to stay on the black and just missed and ran out a comfortable winner in the end. A good match overall played in the right spirit and my thanks go to the Woking team plus Paul G and Jacko for a great evening. P.S. Once again a long hard season for us and I would like to thank Mark and Dan for putting up with the “old feller” and all his frailties but we got there in the end. Roll on the billiards.
